Julia Kolchinsky Dasbach came to the United States as a Jewish refugee in 1993, from Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine. She holds an MFA in Poetry from the University of Oregon and is in the Ph.D. program in Comparative Literature at the University of Pennsylvania. Her awards include Lilith Magazine’s 2013 Charlotte A. Newberger Poetry Prize and an honorary mention in the Spoon River Poetry Review 2010 Editor’s Prize. Her work has appeared in or is forthcoming from Guernica, JMWW, Poetry Quarterly, Northwind, SplitLip and The Doctor T.J Eckleburg Review, among various other journals. Julia is also the Poetry Editor of Construction Magazine. When she’s not reading, writing, or running by the Philly waterfront with her dog, Julia makes music with her husband, singing and composing lyrics for their band “Window & the Knife”:https://www.facebook.com/WindowAndTheKnife.
