Patriotic Millionaires Ask for Tax Hikes

A new video highlights campaign for fair taxes

A new video features a chorus of millionaires asking House Speaker John Boehner to raise their taxes.

“Tax me because my country, our country, means more than my money,” declares Charles Fink, an entrepreneur.

Some of those interviewed emphasized the role government plays in nurturing a strong private economy. “The Small Business Administration lent money to my business, which made me millions,” says Dal LaMagna, co-managing director of IceStone.

Others challenge the notion that rich people create wealth all on their own, with no help from the commons. “Rich people are not the cause of a robust economy, they are the result of a robust economy,” notes another Patriotic Millionaire.

“Patriotic Millionaires:“http://patrioticmillionaires.org/ is a new organization focusing on America’s need for more tax revenues to fund important education, infrastructure, economic and social programs.

“For the fiscal health of our nation and the well-being of our fellow citizens, we ask that you increase taxes on incomes over $1,000,000,” they state. You can sign their petition “here”:http://patrioticmillionaires.org/

The video was co-produced by Wealth for the Common Good—a network of business and civic leaders, wealthy individuals and partners, promoting fair and adequate taxation to support public investment in a healthy economy— a co-sponsors of the Patriotic Millionaires Campaign, and the “Agenda Project:http://agendaproject.org/
