Pledge to Reclaim the Great Lakes as a Commons

Who will define the future of the Great Lakes? You will.

I declare the Great Lakes a commons because I believe:

  • The Great Lakes belong to all of us—every living being that depends on them.
  • All of us have an equitable right to clean, safe water.
  • We have a rightful role as stewards and protectors of our water.
  • The sovereignty and water knowledge of Indigenous Nations must be honored in all water use decisions.

I pledge to stand with others to reclaim the Great Lakes as a living Commons.

Not sure if you’re ready to take the pledge? You can learn more about the Great Lakes Initiative and cross-border, multi-cultural grassroots movement “here”:http://www.onthecommons.org/work/our-great-lakes-commons-charter.
